Split packing across workstations
Give every packing desk its own queue, send orders to the right desk automatically, and let each packer work through their own orders.
A workstation is a place where orders are packed – a desk in your warehouse, a packing table, a corner of the shop. Each workstation has its own queue: orders wait there until someone packs them. When you have more than one person packing, workstations stop two people from grabbing the same order and let you send certain orders (Allegro, InPost, wholesale…) to the desk that handles them.
Add workstations
- Go to Orders and open the Workstations tab.
- Click Add workstation.
- Give it a name your team will recognise, like Desk 1 or Allegro packing.
- Choose the type:
- Packing – orders are packed here.
- Picking and packing – the same, for a desk that also collects the items.
- Picking – stored for later; picking desks don't take orders yet.
- Tick the team members who usually work there. Their packing view opens on this workstation.
- Click Save.
The list shows how many orders are waiting at each workstation.
Put orders on a workstation
- One order: open it and choose a workstation under Workstation in the order panel.
- Many orders: select them on the orders list and choose Assign to workstation.
- Automatically: set up rules (below), and new orders go to a workstation by themselves.
The orders list has a Workstation column and filter, so you can see each desk's queue or the orders nobody has taken yet (Unassigned). Every change is noted in the order's history.
Send orders to a workstation automatically
Under Automatic assignment on the Workstations tab, add rules. When an order is paid and waiting to be packed, the first rule that matches sends it to a workstation.
Each rule has:
- Sales channel – your online store, Allegro, InPost Buy, Base, wholesale, orders created in the admin. Pick none to match every channel.
- Shipping method – the delivery the customer chose. Pick none to match every method.
- Send to – one workstation, or several. With several, the order goes to the one with the fewest orders waiting, so the work spreads evenly.
Rules are checked from top to bottom; use the arrows to change the order. A rule with no channel and no shipping method catches every order the rules above it missed – put it last.
For example:
- Allegro → Allegro packing
- InPost Paczkomat → Desk 2
- Everything else → Desk 1 and Desk 3
A few things to know:
- Your choice wins. An order you put on a workstation by hand is never moved by the rules.
- Orders already waiting are placed as soon as you save the rules.
- No rule matches? The order stays unassigned, and anyone can pack it.
- Counter sales are handed over in the shop, so the rules never place them.
Pack at a workstation
Click Start packing on the To pack tab. The packing station has a workstation selector in the header:
- Choose your workstation and you only see its orders. Skip and the next order stay within that queue.
- The selector also offers Unassigned orders and All orders.
- The choice is remembered on that computer, so a shared PC at a desk always opens on that desk's queue. If you're a member of exactly one workstation, it's chosen for you the first time.
See Pack orders with the packing station for scanning and labels.
Turn a workstation off or delete it
Edit a workstation and switch Active off when a desk is closed for the day, or delete it when you no longer need it. Its waiting orders go back to unassigned, and the rules place them again on another workstation. Orders that were already packed there keep it in their history.
Workstations are included in the Growth and Pro plans.
