Customer accounts on your storefront
Let shoppers sign in to see their orders, save addresses, and manage wishlists, loyalty points, and subscriptions.
Shoppers can buy from your store without an account, but signing in gives them somewhere to come back to — their orders, their saved addresses, the things they've wishlisted. It also makes their second purchase quicker than their first, which is exactly what you want.
What a signed-in customer gets
| Section | What's there |
|---|---|
| Dashboard | A welcome back with recent orders, active subscriptions, and quick actions |
| Your orders | Full order history with details for each one |
| Addresses | Saved shipping and billing addresses, so checkout is prefilled next time |
| Wishlist | Products they've saved — needs the Wishlist module |
| Loyalty | Their points balance, tier, and any running campaigns — needs the Loyalty module |
| Subscriptions | Their recurring plans, with the option to manage them — needs Product Subscriptions |
Sections appear only when the module behind them is switched on, so the account area stays as simple as your store is.
Signing up and signing in
Your storefront has sign-up, sign-in, and password reset built in. Customers can create an account themselves, and forgotten passwords are handled by email without you being involved.
Digital purchases show up here too — buyers download their files from the relevant order, see Sell digital downloads.
Tip: Don't force an account at checkout. Guest checkout wins the first sale; the account is what wins the second. Invite people to create one after they've bought, when they can already see the benefit.
What you see on your side
Everything a customer does still flows into your dashboard — their orders in Orders, their profile in Customers. The account area is the same information, shown to the person it belongs to.
FAQ
Do customers have to create an account to buy?
No. They can check out as a guest. An account is a convenience for repeat shoppers, not a barrier to the first sale.
Can I create an account for a customer?
Customers sign themselves up. You can always place or edit an order on their behalf from your dashboard.
What if a customer forgets their password?
Your storefront has a password reset flow that emails them a link. Nothing for you to do.
Why can't a customer see their loyalty points?
Points only appear when the Loyalty Program module is enabled. The same goes for wishlists and subscriptions — the section follows the module.
