Let customers save products to a wishlist

Turn on wishlists so shoppers can save items for later — and see what they're saving.

Not every shopper is ready to buy today. A wishlist gives them somewhere to put the thing they're considering, so it's still there when payday arrives — and it tells you exactly what people want before they want it.

Turn it on

Open Settings → Modules and enable Wishlist. Shoppers can then save products from your storefront, and a Wishlist entry appears in your sidebar.

What you can see

The Wishlist page is as much a research tool as a feature.

MetricWhat it tells you
Total wishlistsHow many wishlists exist
Unique wishlistersHow many different people are saving things
Products wishlistedHow many of your products have been saved at least once
Top wishlisted productsWhat's saved most, and when it was last saved
Top wishlistersYour most engaged shoppers, and when they were last active

Use what it tells you

A wishlist is a shopper telling you they want something but haven't committed. That's useful:

  • Heavily wishlisted, rarely bought — the price or the shipping cost is probably the sticking point.
  • Wishlisted while out of stock — restock it, and let restock notifications do the telling.
  • Your top wishlisters are prime candidates for a loyalty program or an early look at a new collection.

Tip: Before you plan a sale, look at your top wishlisted products. Discounting something dozens of people have already saved converts far better than discounting whatever's gathering dust.

FAQ

Do shoppers need an account to use a wishlist?

Saving works from your storefront; signing in is what lets a shopper keep their list across devices and come back to it later.

Can I email people about the items they saved?

There's no automatic wishlist email, but your top wishlisted products are excellent newsletter material — see Send newsletters & grow subscribers.

Is a wishlist the same as an abandoned cart?

No. A wishlist is a deliberate "save this for later"; an abandoned cart is an interrupted purchase, and it's usually the more urgent of the two — see Recover abandoned carts.
