Show product recommendations in the cart

Suggest related products in the cart drawer to raise average order value before checkout.

The cart is the best place in your store to suggest one more thing. The shopper has already decided to buy — adding a matching item is a much smaller decision than the one they've just made.

Turn it on

Open Settings → Modules and enable Cart Recommendations. Suggestions then appear in your cart drawer, based on what's already in the cart.

Choose a layout

LayoutHow it looks
InlineA horizontal scrollable strip inside the cart, between the items and the checkout button. Works on desktop and mobile.
Side panelA vertical panel to the left of the cart drawer with product cards stacked top to bottom. Desktop only — falls back to inline on mobile.

Tip: Inline is the safer default. Most stores see more than half their traffic on phones, and that's where the side panel falls back anyway.

Make the suggestions worth it

Recommendations work when the suggested item obviously belongs with what's in the cart — the refill for the bottle, the case for the phone, the socks with the shoes. Grouping your catalog well is what makes that possible, so keep your categories and collections tidy.

Keep an eye on your average order value in Analytics after switching this on. That's the number this feature exists to move.

FAQ

Does this slow down checkout?

It shouldn't. Recommendations sit above the checkout button, so the path to paying is unchanged — the suggestion is an option, not a step.

Can I choose exactly which products get recommended?

Suggestions are drawn from your catalog using what's in the cart as context. To steer them, organize your products well and use bundles when you want a specific pairing sold together.

Bundles or cart recommendations?

Bundles sell a fixed set at one price, decided by you. Cart recommendations react to what the shopper has chosen. They work well together — the bundle for the pairing you're confident about, recommendations for everything else.
