Get things done with the AI Assistant
Run your store by chatting in plain language — ask questions, find orders, and make changes without hunting through menus.
Your Next Store has a built-in AI Assistant that lives right inside your dashboard. Instead of clicking through screens to find a setting or run a report, you can simply ask. The assistant understands your store, answers questions about it, and can make changes for you — all from a single chat box.
It's the fastest way to run your store, and you never need to learn where everything lives first.
Where to find it
The AI Assistant is available on every page of your dashboard. Open it from the chat button in your admin, and it slides out in a panel beside your work so you can keep what you were doing in view. You can drag the edge of the panel to make it wider or narrower.
Two assistants, one panel. The chat panel shows the AI Assistant (this article — for running your store) everywhere in your dashboard. When you open the Design area, the same panel switches to the Builder for designing how your store looks. For design help, see Design with the AI builder.
What you can ask it to do
Think of the assistant as a knowledgeable teammate who can both look things up and take action. Here's the range of what it can help with.
Answer questions about your store
Ask anything about how your business is doing and get an answer in seconds — no reports to build.
- "How many orders did I get this week?"
- "Which products are running low on stock?"
- "What's my best-selling product this month?"
- "How many customers have ordered more than once?"
Find things instantly
Skip the search filters and just describe what you're looking for.
- "Find the order from Jane Doe last Tuesday."
- "Show me all products in my Candles category."
- "List my active discount codes."
- "Pull up customers who ordered a Lavender Candle."
Make changes for you
The assistant can create and edit things in your store, so small jobs take one sentence instead of several clicks.
| You say… | What happens |
|---|---|
| "Create a product called Lavender Candle for $24." | A new product is added to your catalog |
| "Change the price of the Vanilla Candle to $19." | The product's price is updated |
| "Add a category called Gift Sets." | A new category is created |
| "Write a description for my new soap bar." | A product description is drafted for you |
Changes the assistant makes show up in your dashboard right away, so you can open the product or order and review it.
Keep track of what matters
Ask the assistant to note an observation or a follow-up, and it remembers the context of your store as you chat — so you don't have to repeat yourself.
- "Remind me that the holiday collection launches December 1."
- "Flag that my candle stock is getting low."
Tips for the best results
Be specific. "Change the price of the Vanilla Candle to $19" works better than "update my candle." The more detail you give — the product name, the exact value, the category — the better the result.
- Mention things directly. Type
@to reference a specific product, order, or customer so the assistant knows exactly what you mean. - Work in a back-and-forth. If the first answer isn't quite right, just reply and refine. The assistant remembers the conversation.
- Start a new conversation for an unrelated task, so each thread stays focused. You can switch between conversations any time.
- Always review changes. The assistant is fast, but you're in control. After it creates or edits something, open it in your dashboard to confirm it looks right before customers see it.
When to use the assistant vs. the menus
You can always do everything by hand through the dashboard — the assistant doesn't replace your menus, it sits alongside them. Reach for the assistant when:
- You're not sure where a setting lives.
- You want a quick answer without building a report.
- You're doing something small and repetitive (a price change, a quick product).
Use the full screens when you want to see everything at once — like laying out a product page with images and variants, or working through a long list of orders.
FAQ
Does the assistant change things without asking me?
It only acts on what you ask it to do. When it creates or edits something, the change appears in your dashboard so you can review it. For anything important, open the item and confirm before it goes live to customers.
Can it see my real store data?
Yes — it works with your live store, so its answers reflect your actual products, orders, and customers. It's scoped to your store only.
Is there a limit to what I can ask?
The assistant is focused on running your store — products, orders, customers, your catalog, and store insights. For changing how your store looks, use the AI builder instead.
What if it gets something wrong?
Just tell it. Reply with a correction and it will try again. And because every change is visible in your dashboard, you can always edit or undo it the normal way.
