Sell in multiple languages
Turn on extra languages, translate your catalog with AI help, and track how much of your store is translated.
If your customers don't all speak the same language, your store shouldn't either. YNS lets you keep one catalog and give each product, collection, and category a translated version — so a shopper in Warsaw reads Polish while a shopper in Chicago reads English, without you running two stores.
What you can translate
Localization is a module you turn on, and once it's on you get a Localization page plus a Translations tab on the things you sell.
| Content | Fields you can translate |
|---|---|
| Products | Name, web address (slug), short description, full description, badge text, SEO title, SEO description |
| Collections | Name, web address, description, SEO fields |
| Categories | Name, web address, description, SEO fields |
| Legal pages | Privacy policy, terms, and the rest — each has its own language versions |
Anything you leave blank falls back to your default language, so a half-finished translation never leaves a gap on your storefront.
Supported languages
| Language | Code |
|---|---|
| English | en-US |
| Polski (Polish) | pl-PL |
| Español (Spanish) | es-ES |
| Deutsch (German) | de-DE |
Turn localization on
- Open Settings → Modules and enable Localization.
- A Localization entry appears under Settings. Open it.
- Pick your default language — the one your catalog is written in today, and the fallback whenever a translation is missing.
- Switch on each additional language you want to sell in.
Tip: Choose your default language carefully before you start translating. It's the language everything falls back to, so it should be the one your catalog is actually written in.
Translate a product
- Open a product and go to its Translations tab.
- Choose the language you're working in.
- Fill in the fields — or select the ones you want and use Translate selected to have AI draft them for you.
- Review the AI's wording before you save. It's a fast first draft, not a final proofread.
Every field shows the original text as a placeholder, so you always know what you're translating.
Tip: Translate the web address (slug) too.
/produkty/kubek-ceramicznyreads far better to a Polish shopper — and to Polish search engines — than an English slug.
Track your progress
The Localization page shows a coverage table: for each language, how many products, collections, and categories have been translated out of the total. Use it to spot what's still missing before you promote your store in a new market.
What shoppers see
Translated content is served to your storefront and through the store API, so themes and the AI design builder can offer a language switcher and show the right version to each visitor. Ask the AI design builder to add a language switcher to your header if your theme doesn't have one yet.
FAQ
Do I have to translate everything before I switch a language on?
No. Untranslated fields fall back to your default language, so you can turn a language on and fill in translations gradually. Start with your best-selling products.
Is the AI translation good enough to publish?
It's a strong first draft that saves you most of the typing, but always read it back — especially product names, marketing phrases, and anything legal. Machine translation handles plain description text far better than it handles brand voice.
Does translating change my prices?
No. Languages and currencies are separate. To sell in more than one currency, see Sell in multiple currencies.
What happens if I change my default language later?
Your default language is the fallback for everything untranslated, so changing it changes what shoppers see wherever a translation is missing. Set it early and leave it alone.
Are my legal pages translated too?
Legal pages have their own language versions. Each one shows whether it's in your default language, translated, or falling back — see Legal & compliance.
