Upgrade your storefront to the newest version
When our storefront template improves, an Upgrade button appears on the Design page. Elliot brings the improvements into your store while your design, texts and photos stay as they are.
Every store is built on our storefront template, and we keep improving it: pages that load faster, fixes, accessibility work, new features such as the discount-code box in the cart, and newer versions of the engine underneath. Your store doesn't change on its own when the template does. When there's something new for it, the Design page offers an upgrade.
When the button appears
An Upgrade available button shows in the top bar of the Design page, next to the preview's address, only while the template has improvements your store doesn't have yet. Once your store has been upgraded and published, the button goes away until the next improvement arrives.
Upgrade your store
- Go to the Design area in your dashboard.
- Click Upgrade available. A short note tells you how many improvements are waiting and how long ago your storefront was last updated.
- Click Upgrade with Elliot. Elliot starts the upgrade in the chat panel.
- Elliot works in the preview, not on your live store. On a store that's far behind, this can take a while; you can leave the page and come back to the conversation later.
- When it's done, Elliot tells you in plain words what changes for your shoppers and what stays the same, and asks before publishing. Look through the preview, then approve the publish to put the new version live.
Note: Your design, texts, photos and the sections you built stay as they are. What changes is how the store works underneath: speed, fixes and new features. Elliot compares your pages with your live store before suggesting the publish.
Good to know
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Does anything change on my live store right away? | No. Nothing reaches shoppers until you approve the publish. |
| Can I undo it? | Yes. Before you publish, ask Elliot to roll the upgrade back. After publishing, ask Elliot to restore the previous version. |
| What if I made changes in another chat? | Publish or finish them first. Elliot brings any newer published changes into the upgrade before it asks you to publish. |
| Can I get just one new feature? | Yes. Ask Elliot for it in the chat, for example "add the discount-code box to my cart", and it brings in only that. |
| Can YNS Support start it for me? | Yes. Support can prepare the upgrade for you. You'll find the conversation in your Elliot panel, and the publish still waits for your approval. |
