A sandbox is a pretend version of Frame Payments. You can run test card payments and no real money moves. Frame shows embedded card fields with 3D Secure at checkout, for carts in USD.

## 1. Create the account

1. Open [app.framepayments.com/register](https://app.framepayments.com/register) and sign up.
2. Log in to the Frame dashboard and switch it to the **sandbox** environment.

## 2. Copy your two keys

1. In the Frame dashboard create a **secret key** and a **publishable key**.
2. Check that both are sandbox keys – the secret key starts with `sk_sandbox_` and the publishable key with `pk_sandbox_`.

## 3. Set up the webhook

The webhook tells your store when a payment went through, even if the shopper closes the tab before coming back.

1. In your store admin open **Add-ons → Frame Payments** and copy the address under **Webhook endpoint**.
2. In the Frame dashboard go to **Developers → Webhooks** and add that address.
3. Enable the `transfer.succeeded` event.
4. Copy the webhook's **signing secret**.

## 4. Paste the keys into your store

1. Back in **Add-ons → Frame Payments**, find the amber **Sandbox** box.
2. Paste the publishable key into **Public key**, the secret key into **Secret key**, and the signing secret into **Webhook signing secret**.
3. Tick **Active in sandbox**.
4. Click **Save Frame settings**.

Done. While your store is in [test mode](/help/getting-started/test-mode), checkout uses the Frame sandbox for USD carts.

## Good to know

- Sandbox keys and production keys are different. Sandbox keys (`sk_sandbox_`, `pk_sandbox_`) go only in the amber **Sandbox** box, production keys only in the green **Production** box.
- The webhook address is the same for both environments, but each one has its own signing secret. Paste each secret into its own box.
- Frame is used only for carts in USD. Other carts fall back to your other payment methods.
- Refunds are issued in your Frame dashboard, not in YNS – see [Issue refunds and handle returns](/help/orders/refunds-and-returns).
- Before you start selling for real, add your production keys and signing secret, tick **Active in production** and switch your store to live mode.
